What I learned...

As fall rapidly approaches with winter 'cold' on its heals I want to throw a "hypothesis" out there that may determine our winter...

As many out there are following the "political" races, and watching to see who will be the next 'figure head' people are forgetting one major issue....MOTHER NATURE....Im not sure the new Governor or any other president can halt what is to come this winter..

Critical amounts of oil leaked into the Gulf this summer, effecting the beaches, the food supply and the natural marine cycle....warming the waters in the Gulf Stream and setting us up for 'unknown havoc' as hurricane season reaches its peak...this oil is visible...tangible...and very evident as a problem...we wont mention they are now saying 80% or it is "missing" now how did they misplace that?....

now let me point out another critical issue that for some reason we are NOT hearing much about...this information is out there thanks to the internet...but you have to dig...

As that oil leaked...another by product escaped too...Natural Gas...a commodity we are fighting over now in Alaska...on a chemical level this byproduct of oil is a disaster in and of itself...a disaster we can not see or smell! So....as that 'gas' made its way to the surface of the ocean...its chemical component was broke down a bit by the adding and removing of 'ions' at a chemical level...unfortunatly the ions left behind to float into the air are the ones that will make SNOW....lots of it for those areas that are cold enough...rain for the rest...see...

that gas will rise high into the sky...up where the air is cold...it is light in molecular structure....but as it goes up....it will accumulate more ions making it freeze and become heavy...then it will fall to the earth again...as snow...now do not get excited as this snow is NOT good...it will be contaminated with oily gas...it will be acidic is my guess and many many repercussions will come in the spring....

so for this winter in Alaska...I say snow...lots of it...probably a few blizzards due to the temperature issues from this oil and gas...come spring we will flood...accumulated snow on ice packed rivers does that....not meaning to be a "doomsayer" here...but just a lesson I learned in "Chemistry for Idiots" (yes it is a real class for those that need a chemistry credit but do not major in chemistry)...we 'simulated this very incident' in the lab...and lets just say....it snowed like a snow globe and buried our simulated 'house'....

Your points are likely very valid and no doubt the atmosphere will be affected, just as it is in major forest fires or volcanic eruptions, however, it will possibly be short lived. The gases will eventually be burned off, considering how often I have to fill my gas tank it does not take long. But, just in case, I am going to have my snow plow ready to push. Good article.

That is good information. the possibility is not beyond a reasonable grasp. Since the late 1970's, some scientists claim a lack of solar flares that collect particles in our atmosphere that moisture can attach to and create more cloud cover. As this gas is the same weight as atmospheric air, it disperses in all directions at a rapid rate. The biggest question would be, "How much gas?" Are we an explosive ball destined (doomed) to be the next star? The oil will keep it burning.
